February Favourites

I'm going to start doing this once a month... sharing my favourite songs, artists, shows, movies, products, etc.

Food & Drink:

Chamomile Tea & White Tea with Raspberry. I drink the white tea every morning to wake me up, and the chamomile every night before bed to make me sleepy.

Oatmeal. But not the regular boring stuff, I like Quaker Instant Oatmeal in the packets... I like apples & cinnamon because sometimes I'm 5 years old.

Nutella. By the spoonful.

The Kissaway Trail: Soo good. I saw them in concert, and I loved them. Definitely download New Lipstick, 61, and SDP. Just pretend you don’t notice their weird haircuts.

Blame it on the Rain (the acoustic version) – He is We: Check them out at this link… in love.

Family Tree – Matthew West: So cute. It’ll make you cry probably.

As you can probably tell from my blog post below, Something in the Water – Brooke Fraser.

Make Hay While the Sun Shines – Steven Lee Olsen: Because everyone needs a good country song to rock out to every once in a while.

PARKS & RECREATION! I never thought I’d say this, but I like it better than The Office. The characters are freaking hilarious, and Amy Poehler is a comedic genius. Very rarely do I literally laugh out loud during a show… even when I think it’s funny, I tend to laugh in my head. But Parks & Rec makes me bust a gut.

The Big Bang Theory: My friend Amanda lent season 1 and 2 to me recently, and within the past two days I’ve finished the first and am halfway through the second. So funny.

Off the Map: JUST started watching this. It’s amazing. It’s by the creators of Grey’s Anatomy, so that should be enough to convince you to watch it right there.

Bruce County Pastoral

(Poetry from Grade 11, funny how much I hated the very same place that I now miss.)

Though it may have its flaws the scenery is beautiful, I’ll give it that.
With its soft sandy beaches and shining blue water.
Its world famous sunsets that create mysterious silhouettes
of the lazy boats in the harbor.
The abundant trails offer a sheltered solace from the sun’s heavy rays
Those trails eventually lead to the miles and miles of square feet of farmland
that dominates most of the county.

Unfortunately, the towns are so small they present no means of entertainment.
We find ourselves in someone’s basement, bored out of our minds-
or not even in our minds at all-
which leads to trouble that is usually refreshing.

The tourists that arrive in the summer act as if they own the place.
They think it is okay to dump their garbage on our lawns, destroy the dunes,
Steal our boyfriends…

Personally, I am anxious to leave. Get out of the bubble.
But I can’t help but wonder if I’ll miss this place.

I probably won’t.

Something in the Water

I wear a demeanour made of bright pretty things
What she wears, what she wears, what she wears
Birds singing on my shoulder, in harmony it seems
How they sing, how they sing, how they sing

Give me nights of solitude,
Red wine, just a glass or two,
Reclined in a hammock on a balmy evening
I'll pretend that it's nothing that's skipping my heart when I think
are you thinking bout' me babe? I'm crazy over you

There's something in the water, something in the water
There's something in the water, that makes me love you like

I've got halo's made of summer, rhythms made of spring
What she wears, what she wear, what she wears
I've got crowns of words a woven, each one a song to sing
Oh I sing, oh I sing, oh I sing

Give me long days in the sun
Preludes to the nights to come
Previews of the mornings, laying in all lazy
Give me something fun to do, like a life of loving you
Kiss me quick now baby I'm still crazy over you

There's something in the water, something in the water
There's something in the water that makes me love you like I do
