Mike, Britt & Midas

For the longest time (20 years to be exact) Brittany was my only girl cousin. She was my hero, and as a child I did everything within my power to be exactly like her- repeated everything she said, dressed like her, clung to her side whenever she was around… I realize now how annoying that might have been, but not once did she make me feel bad for it. Britt was the big sister I never had. I was so happy when she started dating Mike, the hilarious counsellor at Stillwood Camp in B.C. where we both worked, and ecstatic when I found out they were getting married.

Three years later they added a new addition to their little family- Midas. Who, despite still being a puppy, is incredibly well-behaved. These are some photos I took during the holidays in the forest behind our cottages. (We've had cottages right down the road from each other our whole life.)

Tamming Family

On a cold but quiet day in early January I met the Tamming family on the Bayshore property in Owen Sound. We shot along the edge of the inlet leading to Georgian Bay, and finished at the abandoned ruins by the Grey Bruce Health Clinic. Right away I noticed how friendly and cheerful they were, and by the end of the session I felt like we had all known each other for years! Thanks for a fun afternoon, you guys! It was a pleasure meeting all of you. :)

Derek & Bobbie's Engagement

Bobbie and I have known about each other for, like, 12 or more years. Way back before I even moved up to Bruce County, I attended Vacation Bible School at the little chapel that was on the same lake as my family's cottage. (The same cottage that Josh and I are living in now.) Bobbie's parents also lived on that lake, so every summer during VBS, we'd see each other. It wasn't until my family moved up here permanently when I was 13 that I actually met Bobbie, though. We were formally introduced at a country neighbourhood bonfire. (We moved to a farm right down the road from hers.)

I remember thinking how pretty, confident and friendly she was, and that I would love to be friends with her! We kept in touch through MSN (oh the good old days) and ran into each other every summer at the lake, but we quickly grew older and attended different high schools, and slowly we lost track of each other. :(

Over the past year Bobbie and I have bonded again through our interest in photography and sharing our woes about our forever-hunting boyfriends and frightening country neighbourhood stories ;).

I was SO happy when I found out Bobbie and her fiance Derek were engaged, and even happier when she asked me to be her wedding photographer! Josh and I went to high school with Derek, and they were both captains of the football team together for a couple years. Small world!

These are some of the photos we took during their engagement shoot last week. These two are so cute! It's obvious how much they love each other. I absolutely can't wait to shoot their wedding in June! Congratulations, Bobbie and Derek. :)
