I got a request to make a blog about my new favourite songs, and I decided that instead of posting a massive list of titles, I would go through and pick the best of the best and explain why I like them. Every song I listed is worth a download. Enjoy!
Happy Endings - Lee Brice: This chorus. My goodness, it is so beautiful. The harmony, the obvious sorrow and regret in his voice. It's haunting. You'll want to listen to it over and over again and your heart will ache every time.
Love Like Crazy - Lee Brice: This song is basically the story of my grandparents, and the first few times I heard it brought me to tears- happy tears. Do everything the words in the chorus tell you to and your life will be wonderful.
A Thousand Years - Christina Perri: The combination of the piano, guitar, and Christina's husky melancholy voice is absolutely stunning. It's a powerful song.
I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz: I would have walked down to the isle to this one if it was out in time. Soft acoustic guitar with words that reflect a man refusing to give up on a relationship.
Angel at my Door - Needtobreathe: This is reminiscent of an Eastern folk song with cheery beats and raw, emotion-filled vocals. The lead singer's voice is so unique, you just need to listen to it to know what I mean.
Give Me Love - Ed Sheeran: Listen to the entire thing, the end gets even more amazing. Ed has such a lovely way of turning a normal love song into something different and beautiful.
What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction: Okay I admit it, I love this song. It's just way too much fun to dance to and make me feel good about myself haha. Also, the chorus reminds me of 80s rock, and I love 80s rock.
Cinema - Benny Benassi ft. Skrillex: if you feel like a hardcore dubstep with a perfect mix of quieter vocals, this one is for you.
Sister Rosetta - Noisettes: I just get really pumped up when I listen to this. It makes me feel like dancing in a street or something. It's just really fun.
Sailboats - Brooke Fraser: Pretty, quiet, fresh… everything by Brooke is fabulous. This song is my lullaby.
Fake ID - Big n Rich ft. Gretchen Wilson: Best country song to dance to, hands down.
Two Hands (For Kenya) - Katy McAllister: Katy is an artist who isn't famous yet, she just posts her music on Youtube. She's incredibly talented and this song has moving lyrics about trying to change the world for better, as well as pretty vocals.
Drive By - Train: This is a new one by him, and it's officially my favourite song to blast in the car. It's upbeat, catchy, and the lyrics are cute too.
Kissed a Girl - The Orange Strips: Such a weird song, yet addicting at the same time. I play this when the sun is setting. For some reason I feel like it's fitting.
