Life Lately

Life definitely has not been easy for my family lately. A couple of weeks ago my Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer, as well as kidney and heart failure. He was admitted to the hospital at the beginning of May and ever since then things have been hard. My grandpa is and forever will be one of the most influential people in my life. He's the true epitome of someone who shows unending amounts of grace, gentleness, wisdom, kindness, and selflessness. He's the cutest guy. So sweet and so funny. I could quote him for days. And even in the midst of great illness and pain, he is trying so hard to be strong for our family, and especially for my grandma. I love him deeply and am incredibly blessed to have been able to closely know someone as amazing as him for the last 21 years. When the time comes, I will write a detailed blog post solely devoted to him. But for now we're all hoping and praying for the best.

I guess I've been living in a daze, which is why it was very lovely and refreshing to visit with one of my great friends from British Columbia yesterday. Nadine and I first met in 2007 while working at Stillwood Camp in B.C. We instantly became friends while leading a cabin full of crazy pre-teen girls together, and so many adventures have been had since then.

Nadine is wise. I can always count on her for advice and comfort. You need someone to have real, deep conversations with? Nadine's your girl. Plus, she's hilarious and musically talented and indie and so adorable!

Nadine lives in Vancouver so I rarely ever get to see her anymore, which is why it was so exciting that she was able to make the drive to Bruce County during her family-visit in Ontario.

I loved being able to show her my Ontario life- my old high school, the beaches, my parents' farm, Josh and my house… she even had time to sing a duet with Leah. And it was gorgeous! Nadine's a blogger for the Be.Loved Blog as well as her personal one, From the Sight of a City Girl. Go check them out!

It was a good day. I was sad to see her go. But, it just gives me an excuse to get back out to my favourite province and visit. Here are some fun photos we took; enjoy!
